Welcome to Part 3 of our chakra series, where I explore each of the seven main chakras, their unique qualities, and how they influence your well-being. Part 2 provided an overview of the first chakra system. If you missed it, I invite you to read it now.
My goal for this series is to help you become more aware of your energetic body. I am humbled to create a platform for self-exploration and self-reflection to help bring balance to your overall energetic state. I am grateful for your participation!

Our journey through the chakras will continue upward from survival to what nourishes our soul. Say hello to the sacral chakra, or Svadhisthana, located in the lower abdomen, between the navel and genitals. Serving as our “sweetness,” the sacral chakra represents pleasure, sexuality, nurture, movement, and change.
This chakra develops from age 8-14 years of life. Represented by the color orange, it is known as the element of water and allows for pleasure, creative expression, and embracing change. Understanding the qualities of the sacral chakra can provide insight into its influence on your well-being.
Identifying Sacral Chakra Imbalances
The condition of the sacral chakra influences our creativity, our emotional system, and how we experience pleasure. Below are characteristics of an imbalanced sacral chakra and what balance looks like:
Excessive Energy (spinning too fast):
Behaviors: Emotional intensity, mood swings, addictive tendencies, obsessive affection.
Emotional impact: A sense of being overwhelmed and unable to manage or process emotions effectively. This makes it challenging to navigate relationships, express yourself and maintain balance and well-being.
Blocked Energy (spinning sluggishly or not at all):
Behaviors: Being hard on yourself, increased anxiety, and mood swings.
Emotional impact: You might feel disconnected from your emotions -- experiencing a sense of emptiness or apathy. It can be difficult to connect deeply with others or feel joy and pleasure.
Balanced Energy (equilibrium and proper vibrational flow):
Behaviors: Effective emotional expression, increased self-acceptance, and prioritized self-care. Emotions and relationships are in balance.
Emotional impact: You are trusting, expressive, attuned to your feelings, creative, and connected to your sensual self.
Ways to Support and Balance Your Sacral Chakra

There are various practices and tools you can use to restore and maintain a balanced sacral chakra. Below are some suggestions to help you nurture this foundational energy center:
Dietary Support
Eating foods that are grounding and nourishing can help bring balance to the sacral chakra:
Focus on color like oranges, passion fruit, pumpkins, mangos, apricots, bananas, and sweet potatoes.
Incorporate high water content foods.
Stay hydrated and support the water element.
Essential Oils and Incense
Scents have a powerful effect on energy centers. The following are particularly helpful for balancing the sacral chakra:
Jasmine to support sensuality.
Rose to support connection to yourself.
Sandalwood for enhancing focus and promoting inner peace.
Crystals
Crystals that resonate with the sacral chakra’s energy can help you feel more connected and secure and include:
Citrine or Carnelian for boosting creativity and motivation.
Tiger’s Eye or Aragonite for ensuring you are tuned in for self-care.
Moonstone to aid in self-discovery.
Red Jasper for emotional balance.
Physical Movement
Physical movement can help balance the energy flow in your sacral chakra.
Go on a hike in the mountains.
Practice dance, pilates or yoga to awaken your connection to your body.
Journaling Prompts
Reflecting on your relationship with your physical and emotional well-being can deepen your awareness. Ask yourself:
How am I reacting to life's pleasures?
How can I better express my needs in my relationships?
How does my emotional health influence my physical health?
Affirmations and Mantras
Positive affirmations and chanting can help reprogram the sacral chakra. Examples include:
Affirmation: “My creativity flows freely and effortlessly.”
Mantra: Chant VAM, the sacral chakra seed sound, during meditation or yoga.
Meditation
Meditation can calm the mind and bring awareness to the sacral chakra. Visualize a warm sunrise bringing orange light to your lower abdomen, creating a sensual flow of energy. I’ve created a four-minute guided meditation to help you.
Balancing the sacral chakra is essential to reduce stress, improve self-esteem, and improve relationships. By engaging in these practices and observing how you feel, you may find a greater sense of security, vitality, and connection to life. Remember, healing is a journey, and your awareness is the first step.
What are your favorite ways to feel connected? I’d love to hear about your experiences in the comments!
Blessings,
Briana
