Caring for Myself as a Caregiver

I understand the importance of taking care of myself, especially in my role as a caregiver. I care deeply for the people I love and for my clients. Over the years, I’ve noticed a recurring pattern emerge: burnout, which occurs when I forget to check in with myself.
That’s why it’s so essential for me to continually refill my own wellspring of energy and presence. One of my mentors who helps me stay connected to that inner wellspring is Suzanne Scurlock, founder of Healing from the Core. She wrote a beautiful book called Full Body Presence: Learning to Listen to Your Body’s Wisdom. I highly recommend checking it out.
To support caregivers who may be feeling depleted, I’ve created a 6-minute Caregiver Renewal Meditation. This gentle, restorative practice is designed to help you return to yourself, reconnect with your body, and replenish the energy you so generously give to others. I welcome you to listen and take a moment for your own renewal.
Listening to the Body’s Wisdom
Learning to listen to the body’s wisdom can feel foreign at first. It’s taken me many years and many types of therapies to truly understand how my body communicates with me. Our “thinking mind” is not our “feeling mind.” The “feeling mind” lives in the body - in the spaces of our connective tissue that hold our stories.
Sometimes it’s as simple as placing a hand on the part of your body that is bothering you, asking what it needs, and beginning a relationship with your body. Other times, having a trained professional is required to help hold a safe space.
How I Help Facilitate Healing
This is why I’m so passionate about the work I do. I’m not a traditional massage therapist. My sessions are a blend of life experience, learned skills, somatic awareness, and therapeutic presence, all of which create a space for people to reconnect with themselves at a more profound level.
Supporting Families in a Deeper Way

A new way I have been supporting others is through sessions with a full family unit. I work with mothers, fathers, and children.
There is something deeply sacred about holding grounded, nurturing space for a newborn, a mother, and a father—seeing them, acknowledging them, and allowing whatever energy from the birth experience to be held and integrated.
An Invitation for Caregivers and New Families
If this message speaks to you, or if you know a new family who could benefit from this kind of care, I invite you to share my information. Caregiving takes many forms, and I’m continually exploring new ways to support others through connection, awareness, and presence.
Thank you for being here and supporting my mission.
Blessings,
Briana
