CranioSacral Therapy for TMJ Relief

If you struggle with jaw tension, TMJ clicking, headaches, facial tightness, or pressure
around the temples, you’re not alone. I see this pattern often, and it’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about helping people understand what’s really happening in the body.
Many people believe TMJ care starts at the jaw. In reality, the jaw is often responding to
tension patterns in the neck, skull, and nervous system.
This is where CranioSacral Therapy (CST) can be incredibly supportive.
CST works with the cranial bones, fascia, and nervous system to help the body release deep patterns of tension. When these structures soften, the jaw joint often has more freedom to move and return to balance.
Before working directly on the jaw, I often start with gentle techniques that help the body feel
Here are a few foundational self-care techniques you can try:
Front of the Neck Stretch This helps open the thoracic inlet — an important pathway for circulation and fluid drainage between the head and body. Creating space here can reduce pressure patterns that influence the jaw and head.
Ear Pull Release A gentle traction of the ears supports the temporal bones, cranial fascia, and the dural system. Many people notice a calming effect through the head and nervous system when this area softens.
Sphenoid Release The sphenoid sits deep behind the temples and plays a key role in cranial balance. Gentle support here can help soften tension around the temples while supporting the eyes and pituitary region.
These techniques help the body ease into deeper jaw work.
In the educational videos linked below, I’ll also show you:
• How to massage the jaw muscles
• How to gently stretch the zygomatic arch
• How to release the muscles used for chewing and smiling
• Gentle compression and decompression for the TMJ joint
• A pterygoid release to help the deeper jaw muscles soften and reset
My passion is helping people reconnect with their bodies and understand why symptoms
happen — not just temporarily relieve them. When we support the nervous system and cranial structures, the body often has an incredible ability to find its way back toward balance.

If you’re experiencing persistent TMJ symptoms, CranioSacral Therapy sessions can help
address the deeper patterns contributing to jaw tension.
I’m always grateful to be part of people’s healing journey.
